Nightingale Infant and Nursery School

Newsletter 23.02.18

Dear all,

It has been wonderful to meet some of your lovely children over the past couple of days whilst I have been starting to get to know the school. I have seen and heard of lots of exciting things which have taken place including Go Go Hares project and 'The Grande Finales'.

In my first letter I mentioned that we would be holding a drop in session on 22nd March 2018, I am now aware that the friends have organised a school disco; to enable reception parents to meet us during our planned informal drop in session and attend the disco we will be in school Wednesday 21st March and Thursday 22rd March 3.00pm – 4.00pm, please feel free to pop in either afternoon to chat over coffee and cake.

The newly formed governing board met yesterday for the first time and began the process of considering ALL of the areas of the school that require consideration and development. I have become aware that there are issues that many of you feel strongly about, in particular safeguarding, and the management of behaviours for learning. The governors have requested a full external safeguarding audit which will look in detail at current policy and practice and we will review other policies beginning with the behaviour and learning policy. I am fortunate to have a very experienced and hardworking team around me, we will work as quickly and as effectively as we can to address your areas of concern.

We will continue to work alongside the Local Authority who will help us broker any further support that is required. I am confident that this collaborative approach, the newly formed governing board, the Local Authority and senior staff will bring about the improvements needed.

If you wish to get in contact with the governors, please put it in writing addressed to the Chair of Governors and hand it into the school office, I will respond as quickly as I can.
