Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to school, I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break, despite the spring sunshine appearing a little too infrequently! A very warm welcome also to the families of all the new children who have joined our nursery this term, they all seem to be settling in so well already.
The summer term is a time to continue to learn new things but also to consolidate what we have learnt over the whole school year. In Key Stage 1 (KS1) the children will be taking the phonics (Year One) and SATS (Year Two) tests this term. If you have a child in KS1 and have any planned absences this term that you haven't already told us about please ask the school office for an absence form.
To build on their learning in school we are delighted to be able to offer all our school children the opportunity to try a new skill with our lunch and after school clubs. Uptake has been really good and club lists will be issued today ready for the first clubs to start on Monday. If your child would like to join a club there are still some spaces in some clubs so please speak to the office team who will be happy to help.
SPORT RELIEF 2018
Thank you to everyone who has brought in their sponsor money, if you haven't done so yet there is still time to bring yours into the office in a sealed envelope with your child'ÃÂÃÂs name and the amount clearly shown on the front.
The children had a fabulous time decorating our leveret "Twinkle"ÃÂÃÂ who was collected over the Easter holidays. All of the children noticed she had gone so here is a picture of how Twinkle looked after all their hard work!
Twinkle will be on display as part of the GoGo Hare trail in the summer holidays, proudly displaying her plaque which reads "ÃÂÃÂTwinkle is designed and painted by the pupils of Nightingale. Classes voted for their favourite designs which included the celebration of music, nature, colour, aspiration and friendship. Look out for the sparkly base created by each pupils' star."ÃÂÃÂ
Friends of Nightingale
Thank you to the Friends who held a very successful Easter cake sale and tombola at the end of term, unfortunately the weather wasn'ÃÂÃÂt kind to us on the day but it didn'ÃÂÃÂt deter the children from enjoying their Easter treats. A big thank you to all of you who sent in donations for the tombola. The next event is on Friday 25th May when the children can come into school in non-uniform, bringing with them a donation for the tombola which will take place after school along with a cake sale. All the Friends events are included on the schoolâÃÂÃÂs calendar on our website http://www.nightingale.norfolk.sch.uk/parents/calendar
In our celebration assembly this week we welcomed our first hot chocolate awards from our reception classes, Xander and Alexia were the first children to try and hot chocolate and I think they both gave it the thumbs up. Joining them were Summer and Daisy-Mae from Year One and Effie and Tilly from Year Two, well done to them all.
Also receiving certificates in assembly for their achievements outside of school were Lara for her dancing; Olivia for her swimming medals; Ruby P for her street dance and Kyra for her gymnastics. What active children we have!
Pupil Asset Parent App
We are sorry that, yet again, there were problems at the start of term with the Pupil Asset App and parents couldnâÃÂÃÂt select their child'ÃÂÃÂs choices. We have provided the company with feedback about the situation and will continue to monitor the situation to ensure we receive the service we expect. Just to remind you, if your child doesn'ÃÂÃÂt bring a home packed lunch to school they will always be given the hot dinner option on the menu for that day. If there are problems with the app, you only need to contact the office if your child would like a vegetarian meal, jacket potato or school packed lunch.
Tesco Bags of Help Scheme
Don't forget to pick up a blue token whenever you shop at Tesco in Drayton and pop it into the Nightingale slot. As I'm sure you have noticed, the store is also supporting bids from Ghost Hill and Drayton Infant School for much needed equipment also, so get collecting those blue tokens and vote for our school.
Big Share and Grande Finale
It was fabulous to see so many of you attending our Big Shares this week, the children really enjoy sharing their work with you in the classrooms. Just to remind you, would all parents enter the school through the main reception, sign in on a visitor sheet and leave their mobile phones in the lockers provided. Thank you to those who took the time to fill in a feedback form at the end we value your comments and hope the events continue to be so successful.
This week the whole school attendance was 93.97% as our school attendance target is 96% we didnâÃÂÃÂt achieve it this week. I hope we see this improve as continue through the summer term.

- We have been lucky enough to finally see some sunshine so please make sure your child comes to school with a named sunhat and wearing sun cream as appropriate.
- Please can you ensure that your children (including those who don't attend our school) don't use the outdoor play equipment before or after school.
- Please remember we have a no phone/photo policy in school.
Have a lovely weekend.
